Comment:
During the early Spanish period, many
of the provincial towns either had no access to postal cancellers or chose
not to use them, evident from many covers, mainly addressed to Manila, only
tied with receiving cancels. In cases where covers were sent inter-city
(other than Manila), a few covers exist where both the source and destination
towns did not apply a cancel thus the stamp remained un-cancelled. In some
cases, stamps had a manuscript (pen) cancel applied. |

Comment: 5-cuartos stamp paying single weight
domestic rate tied with a most likely bogus CAPIZ town cancellation. |
