23 January 1864 San Jose Dateline
San Jose de Buenavista (Antique) to Cebu

Provenance: Geoffrey Lewis

Soler y Llach Auction - December 21, 2022 (Lot 2529) [Price Realized : 420 Euros]

Comment: During the early Spanish period, many of the provincial towns either had no access to postal cancellers or chose not to use them, evident from many covers, mainly addressed to Manila, only tied with receiving cancels. In cases where covers were sent inter-city (other than Manila), a few covers exist where both the source and destination towns did not apply a cancel thus the stamp remained un-cancelled. In some cases, stamps had a manuscript (pen) cancel applied.
