Postmark with Inverted Date

There are a number of reported
postmarks from various countries that contain inverted dates. This is
produced when the numerical and letter plugs used on the canceller are incorrectly
inserted. In some instances, the whole date is inverted, whilst others exist
with only one or two of the entries inverted (ie, Day, Month or Year). A few stamps from the
Spanish-Philippine period (detailed below) have been recorded with inverted
date cancels. These are only known on two types of circular date stamps. |
